Automating email campaigns with UniSender

product

If your quiz collects email addresses — in exchange for a discount, a set of options, a checklist, or an estimate — that email has to go somewhere. As long as it sits in your LeadForms dashboard, the person doesn't get the promised email, and their interest is hot right now.

The UniSender integration closes that gap: the contact is added to your mailing list as soon as the form is submitted, and an email or a sequence goes out from there.

What connecting your quiz to email marketing gets you

A quiz is good at collecting contacts: answering a few questions is easier than filling out a long form. But in niches where the decision isn't made in a single visit, one touchpoint isn't enough: the person left their email and isn't ready to buy yet.

Email continues the conversation. In practice, it looks like this:

  • what you promised for taking the quiz — a discount code, a set of options, a checklist, an estimate — goes out automatically, not whenever someone remembers;
  • your list grows without manually moving contacts from exports;
  • after the first email, you can launch a sequence: work examples, answers to objections, a special offer.

It's especially useful for online schools, online stores, travel agencies, and in general any business that gives something away for completing the quiz.

How to connect UniSender to your quiz

Most of the work happens on the UniSender side: the integration needs a list to store contacts and an active sequence to send the email. In LeadForms, all that's left is to paste the API key.

  1. Create a contact list. In UniSender, open "Contacts" → "Contact lists," click "Create list" in the "List actions" block, enter a name, and save.
  2. Set up the subscription. Open the list page, go to "Subscribe and unsubscribe tools" in the "Tools" block, fill in the fields, and create the email.
  3. Build the sequence. "Automation" section → "Create sequence." The sequence needs a trigger event, an action or check, and an outcome. Name it and save it.
  4. Activate the sequence. Make sure no node is marked red — that means unfilled fields or an error — and click "Activate." Without this, no emails are sent.
  5. Copy the API key. "Account settings" page → "Integration and API" tab → "API access key."
  6. Connect it in LeadForms. Open the quiz → "Settings" tab → "Integrations" → Unisender card → "Connect," paste the key, and save the quiz.

What to send after the quiz

The email should continue the quiz's logic, not be a generic "thanks for contacting us" blast. The person just told you what they need: an email that ignores that strips the quiz of all its value.

What's most often sent in the first email:

  • the promised discount code or price cut;
  • a set of options based on the customer's answers;
  • the quiz result or the estimate;
  • a useful resource: a checklist, a guide, a PDF;
  • confirmation of the request with a clear next step.

What a quiz for collecting emails should look like

Just adding an email field at the end isn't enough. People leave their email only if they understand what they'll get in return and when.

  • The promise is specific. Not "we'll be in touch," but "we'll send you 5 options that fit your budget."
  • The quiz is short. If the person gets tired before the form, the email will never exist.
  • The promise is delivered immediately. An email that arrives two days later reaches someone who has already cooled off.

Mistakes that break the connection

  • The sequence isn't activated. Contacts pile up in the list and nobody gets emails. This is the most common cause of "the integration doesn't work."
  • There's no reason to leave an email. An email field without explaining its value lowers form conversion.
  • The email has nothing to do with the answers. The person took a quiz about a specific need and got a generic blast: trust drops.
  • The first email turned out to be the last. A quiz makes sense as the start of a conversation, not as a one-off action.

FAQ

Why do contacts arrive but emails don't go out?

It's almost always the sequence: it's built but not activated, or one of the nodes is only partly filled in. In UniSender, those nodes are marked red.

Do I need a separate list for each quiz?

It's not required, but it's convenient: you can see more clearly where a contact came from and send different emails to different groups.

What should I offer so people leave their email?

Something that has value before the sale and arrives immediately: an estimate based on their parameters, a set of options, a discount code. We cover this in the article on quiz offers.

Should I ask for both phone and email?

Every extra field costs you a share of your leads. If email is your main channel, email alone is enough; ask for a phone number when a rep is actually going to call.
