What it is for
A pop-up works well when an offer has a deadline or the visitor is about to leave. It closes with one click, and a small button stays on the page to bring the offer back.
Promotions and discounts
A first-order discount, a clearance sale, a gift with purchase. The label and the countdown timer make it clear the offer will not last forever.
Keep visitors from leaving
The pop-up appears when the mouse heads for the browser tabs and, on mobile, on a quick scroll up. It is your last chance to offer a discount or a consultation.
Event announcements
A webinar, an opening, a workshop. With the schedule, the pop-up turns on by itself the day registration opens and turns off once the event is over.
What you can configure
You change everything in the editor with a live preview. If you need to collect details inside the window, use a pop-up form, and if you want to open the quiz directly, without a banner, see how to add a quiz to your website with auto-open.
Design and image
Image on the left, on the right, on top, or as a background with a dark overlay. You can upload a separate image for mobile. Three window sizes.
Label and timer
A short label above the headline and a countdown to the end of the promotion. When time runs out, the timer or the whole banner is hidden.
Where the button leads
To a page on your site, to your quiz on top of the page, to another widget such as a form, or to a JS event for your own code.
Reminder button
When the pop-up is closed, a small button stays on the page. Anyone who changes their mind can return to the offer on their own, without the pop-up opening again.
A/B test
Two or more pop-up variants. Each visitor sees one, and the dashboard compares clicks and shows you which one works better.
Mini banner: several offers in the corner
If a window over the page feels like too much, use a mini banner. It is a card in the corner of the screen that rotates through several promotions and does not get in the way of reading the site.
How it works
Cards switch automatically every few seconds or manually. Each one has its own image, text and link. The X minimizes the banner into a “See deals” button that stays out of the way.
Good for news, several promotions at once and event announcements.
When and to whom to show it
A widget that pops up on everyone at once is annoying. You set display rules in the editor, no code needed.
At the right moment
A few seconds after the page opens, at a set scroll depth, when the visitor tries to leave, after a pause in activity, or not before the second or third page. Or only when someone clicks the side tab or an element on your website.
No endless repeats
On every page, once per visit, or at most once every N minutes. The widget stops showing once the visitor clicks the button, submits a request, or after the number of views you choose.
Only to your audience
Pages you pick by URL, visits from a specific campaign by UTM tags, mobile only or desktop only. A campaign offer stays hidden from everyone else.
On a schedule
Start and end dates of the promotion, hours and days of the week in the visitor’s time zone. A weekend promo turns on and off by itself.
Keep the pop-up from annoying people
A pop-up that gets closed unread only gets in the way. Three rules worth turning on from day one.
Not at the door
In the first seconds, visitors have not yet figured out where they landed. Give them time, wait for a scroll, or show the pop-up on exit intent.
Once, not on every page
Limit the frequency and stop showing it after the button is clicked. Someone who already took the offer does not need to see it again.
Careful on mobile
On a small screen a pop-up covers everything. On mobile it works better to show it on exit intent or to use the mini banner in the corner.
How to add it to your website
No developer needed. You paste the code once, then turn widgets on and edit them in your LeadForms dashboard. Step-by-step instructions for each platform are in our guides.
Create the widget
Open the Widgets section in your dashboard and pick a type. Text and colors come prefilled with an example, so you only adapt them to your business.
Check the preview
The editor shows the widget on a website mockup and applies changes instantly. The “As on the site” mode lets you check when it will appear.
Paste the code once
One code for all the widgets in your account. If a LeadForms quiz is already on your website, there is nothing to paste: widgets run on the same script. The dashboard checks on its own that the code is in place.
Where it works
On any website where you can paste code, including through Google Tag Manager.
More widgets for your website
All widgets install with the same code. The button in any of them can open your quiz, and you build the quiz in the LeadForms quiz maker.
