How it works
A custom portrait is one-of-a-kind work, and the price depends on two things: size and medium. Oil costs more than graphite, and a large canvas is a different job from a small one. The quiz follows exactly these points: first the canvas size (five ready options plus “other size,” typed in by hand), then the medium: pastel, graphite pencil, watercolor, oil painting or “I need help choosing.”
The client uploads the photo right in the quiz, and that's the format's biggest advantage: the artist sees the source image before any conversation and knows whether they can take the job. The result shows an estimated price: in the original template, it's the sum of the size and medium values. Note that if the client picks “other size” and types it in, that field doesn't go into the calculation, so for custom sizes it's better to quote a price after discussing it.
There's a legal point to clarify: a portrait from a photo is work based on someone else's image. Ask the client to confirm they have the right to use the photo, especially if other people are in it. A free frame is a great perk for gift buyers, but keep it only while it's actually included in the order.
