How it works
"How much is a DJ for one night" has almost no single answer: showing up with your controller at a club that already has sound is one thing, and hauling speakers, lights, a sound engineer and a fog machine to a wedding at a venue outside town is another. The quote calculator breaks the request into those parts: the event, the hours on a slider, the genre, lighting, the sound equipment the venue lacks, your sound engineer or theirs, and special effects.
The question "what sound equipment don't you have" is especially useful. It's phrased in reverse, and that's on purpose: the client doesn't know what you need, but they can check what the venue has. These answers make it clear right away what to load into the car, so you don't arrive to find there's no mixer or wireless mic.
Two additions to the template. First, the event date: for a DJ it's the first availability check, so it makes sense to ask it at the start. Second, special effects: cold sparks, fog and confetti are restricted at many venues, so the result should note that their use is subject to venue approval. That way you don't promise something the venue manager will later ban.
