How it works
Shipping from China is one of the most price-driven requests in logistics: the client compares several forwarders and goes with whoever quoted a price first. The quiz gives them that number right away. First, the cargo type: light but bulky, compact and light, heavy and bulky, or compact but heavy. Then volume in cubic feet and weight in pounds, both on sliders, the transit time and shipping method, insurance and packaging.
In the template, the transit time also sets the method: 6–8 days is air, 8–20 is truck, 20–29 is rail, 29–45 is sea. That's convenient for the client: they choose by timeline, not by jargon. If you don't offer some of these methods, remove the extra options. There's one caveat about the formula: in the original template, the cost is calculated by weight, and volume isn't part of the calculation. Forwarders usually charge by whichever is higher, actual or dimensional weight, so for light, bulky cargo add volume to the formula; otherwise the price will come out too low.
Honesty matters in another way too: customs clearance, duties and import restrictions on certain goods aren't part of shipping, and it's best to say so in the result. The template's gift, a checklist of customs clearance documents, is a great bonus that importers genuinely need; keep a discount only if it's actually running. The estimate is preliminary: the total depends on cargo density and the rate on the day of the request.
