How it works
A mortgage estimate is the most natural reason to leave contact details: the person is going to estimate their monthly payment anyway, they just do it with calculators on other sites. The template is built on three sliders, property price, down payment and term, plus a question on whether to roll closing costs into the loan. That's the minimum needed for a clear number, and it takes a minute to complete.
Don't hard-code the interest rate in the copy: rates change, and an outdated number on the landing page costs you trust and invites complaints. It makes more sense to store it in the calculator settings, update it in one place, and state in the result that the estimate is preliminary and the final terms depend on the rate the bank offers at approval. The same goes for any homebuyer assistance programs in your area: mention them as something to review during the consultation, not as a fixed figure.
A separate benefit is segmentation. A lead with a 15 percent down payment and one with half the price in hand are different approval scenarios and different conversations, so route them to the right advisors from the start, not after the first call. In exchange for the estimate, the template offers a checklist of documents for the application: a fitting bonus, because it genuinely helps the person with the next step and doesn't replace your work.
